MORE ABOUT THE PNA HOT MEAL PROGRAM
The Hot Meal Program (HMP) has remained open during the COVID pandemic when many other meal programs have had to shut down. At the beginning of the pandemic, the HMP was serving to-go meals, hot soup, and hot coffee outdoors (in the rain & hail!) to very grateful neighbors. They have always provided a hygiene station so diners can wash their hands, grab a mask, some hand sanitizer, and use the restroom. HMP was able to move back indoors and offer indoor dining, a dry place to sit and rest, and a chance to charge mobile phones.
The HMP is so much more than community dining. They provide a safe environment to feel cared for, feel deserving, and feel like a part of this neighborhood. They are now offering a large variety of hygiene products, warm socks, gently used clothing, and shoes. Additionally, they have partnered with Seattle Pacific Nursing School and Lahai Health to offer basic healthcare for their diners and Medical Teams International for dental. Through these engaging partnerships, they are able to provide weekly blood pressure checks, blood glucose checks, foot care, fall prevention clinics, and a wide array of dental services at no cost.
The response to these services from their diners has been overwhelmingly positive as they feel more supported than ever before. HMP has a goal to continue offering these services and expand into mental health care in 2021 with the help of generous donations and community partnerships. The PNA Hot Meal Program is building bridges to services their diners' needs. Thank you for helping the PNA Hot Meal Program build those bridges.
